Our church will be serving the women of the Broadway House Women’s Shelter Sunday December 20th directly after church and we need volunteers! We are hosting a holiday potluck lunch at the shelter, which is an extra special event for the residents, and we need people to: 1)Prepare or pick-up a dish to share (main, side or dessert). Typical potluck food like meat dishes, casseroles, salads, etc. that can feed large groups is best as this is a 165-bed shelter. 2)Help serve food to the women at the shelter and spend time with them. We also need cars to help transport the food. If you are interested in helping, please email Alaina Hohnarth and/or Kristin Dulaney.
Help us collect and distribute toys to families in need this Christmas. You can bring toys to our worship service on December 13th or December 20th. The toys collected by Resurrection Williamsburg will be donated to Trinity Human Service Center in Williamsburg. You can also volunteer to serve a meal at the Christmas Party at Most Holy Trinity on Wednesday, December 23rd at 6pm when the toys will be distributed. Please contact David Stancil for more details.
If you like burritos and you like brunch and you like being with awesome folks after service on Sunday…then get excited for Burrito Bar on the 4th Sunday of the month! We offer pay-what-you-want/bring-what-you-want burritos in the fellowship hall after church. If you would like to help or just want more information, email Caroline Kolts. We need cooks, hosts and cleanup crew. This is one way our community expresses Christian hospitality.
Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 4:8-11
Hospitality is a way of life fundamental to Christian identity. Its mysteries, riches, and difficulties are revealed most fully as it is practiced. – Christine Pohl
Serve the women of Broadway House Women’s Shelter by helping lead a storytelling/writing class on Dec. 13th. During the class, we spend time with the women to either heart their own stories or help them write fictional stories and then share them. More than anything else, this class becomes a safe place for the women to open up and share their lives with each other, a rare opportunity at the shelter. If you’re interested in joining us on December 13th, please contact Alaina Hohnarth or Kristin Dulaney for more information.
Resurrection Brooklyn and CHiPS are joining forces to provide nonperishable food to help people facing hunger this holiday season. Please bring nonperishable food to our “Christmas in the City” event on Dec. 11th or to Resurrection Park Slope for services on Dec. 13th.
