Automotive High School Opportunity

January 13, 2016 By Kaytie E.

Automotive HighschoolAutomotive High School has a new partner for after-school programs, Counseling in Schools (www.counselinginschools.org). The group offers a variety of programs that help develop student both educationally and socially, ranging from chess to music production. We hope to continue our service to Automotive High School by working to assist in some of these programs. One immediate opportunity lies in creating an after-school “internship” program for distinguished students from the school. If you work in a situation where you would be willing to host one of these students one day per week through the Spring semester (they are particularly interested in careers involving light production or manufacturing work – “working with your hands”), please contact David Stancil at david@resurrectionbrooklyn.org. As the potential program develops, we may also seek to help with resume writing workshops, interviewing skills classes, and more. Please stay tuned for more details!

Our global partner, the Ethiopia ACT (Aids Care & Treatment) Project has been fighting the AIDS epidemic in Ethiopia since 2002. Ethiopia ACT provides physical, emotional, and spiritual care for individuals and families in Addis Ababa affected by HIV/AIDS.

Broadway House Women’s Shelter Christmas Potluck, Dec. 20th

December 3, 2015 By Kaytie E.

5276358386_81265e3dc7_bOur church will be serving the women of the Broadway House Women’s Shelter Sunday December 20th directly after church and we need volunteers! We are hosting a holiday potluck lunch at the shelter, which is an extra special event for the residents, and we need people to: 1)Prepare or pick-up a dish to share (main, side or dessert). Typical potluck food like meat dishes, casseroles, salads, etc. that can feed large groups is best as this is a 165-bed shelter. 2)Help serve food to the women at the shelter and spend time with them. We also need cars to help transport the food. If you are interested in helping, please email Alaina Hohnarth and/or Kristin Dulaney.
